Before you pay for an Amazon ranking guide, ask these 3 questions.

Every Amazon formula is a guess from the outside.

4,745,000data points from 26 facts × 500 books × 365 days. "It's still 500 books."

What I found

Amazon keeps its rules private, so people watch what happens and work backward, a bit like guessing a recipe from the taste. "I might get close, but I'd never know for sure." I counted 26 separate facts on one Kindle page; record those for 500 books, every day, for a year, and you get 4,745,000 data points: "It's still 500 books." Half of the six guides I compared were written for sellers of physical products. And a model that only looks at today's bestsellers never sees the books that did the same things and sank.

So do this

Ask how many books, which books, and whether it saw the ones that sank. Then read it for ideas, not rules.

Keep in mind

Amazon keeps its rules private, so people work backward. That's real work, and it's fair to keep data private. It also means nobody outside can check it.
